This is not just a story but a journey in itself. This will not just inspire you but will make sure that you too take that first step and see for yourself how much power you have. Jyothi, one of the six children of the Reddy family of Warangal was a forced orphan. She was sent to an orphanage at the tender age of 6 even while having both her parents alive.
So the story happens to be tragic from the beginning because thinking of sending your 6- year old child to an orphanage may bring your heart out and here this girl was already there. All these years of yearning for the mother’s love, she would often wonder why only she was separated from the family. And the answer to her question was “poverty”. Jyothi created a dream in her that she would do something when she grows to eradicate poverty from her life. But her dreams shattered when she was again ‘forced’ to marry a labourer when she was just 16-years old.
Let’s just think again of the situation she was in – a poor girl with uneducated in-laws’ family, working as a field labourer to earn 5 rupees a day, and now a mother of two GIRLS (a bane in the eyes of the whole world around her). Jyothi was scared that if there was no money, she might have to send her daughters to any orphanage and that made her to take a bold decision. She knew that if she gets more education, she could at least get a decent
job; so, she filled the form for class 11th and also applied for a job. She fortunately got a job of rupees 300 a month but she felt richer that day. She worked against the wish of her family and also studied at night. Remember! She also had two kids till then; sigh, life was tough!! With all these challenges, she still never left studying and upskilling. Gradually, she went on to complete her Masters in Arts from an open university and got a job as a government teacher with a decent salary.
But Jyothi, who had big dreams, could not stop here. She still had a long way to remove poverty from her life, Once, when she got to know from one of the colleagues that USA is the land of dreams, she decided to fulfill her dreams and went to America where she knew nobody. She did many odd jobs there like a baby sitter, a petrol pump attendant, a saleswoman and what not and while doing all this she learnt how to do business in America. Cutting the long story short, this field labourer is now the CEO of a company named KEYSS Systems Software in America with multimillion dollars of turnover. Jyothi Reddy had a hard life but she used her resources and kept her dreams high. She is now a millionaire and this is what she dreamt of – to kill poverty! So next time when you have of an obstacle in your journey, remember, if a field labourer can be a CEO, what all can you be??
